Principle 4: Believe That It Is Possible
Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve; However, you have to believe that what you want is possible.
Doctors operated on a group of patients who had knee problems and on some they operated but did nothing for the knee and others they actually operated on their knee joints. Two years later the patients who had pretend surgery reported the same amount of relief as the ones who underwent real surgery. The brain expected the surgery to improve the knee.
We have discovered that we respond to what the brain, on the basis of previous experience, expects to happen next and not from information flowing into the brain from the outside world. This is because we spend our whole lives becoming conditioned. Our brain is constantly trying to expect what will happen next and because of this we usually achieve exactly what we anticipate. This is why it is important to hold positive expectations in our minds so that your brain will expect to achieve that outcome. It is amazing what happens to your self-confidence when you get eyeball to eyeball with yourself and you forcefully tell yourself what you are going to do. Look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you are going to achieve your dream no matter what the price.
